Our Sweatshirts and the Hoodie are 400 GSM and T-shirts are 200 GSM. But what does that really mean?
What is GSM?
GSM stands for grams per square meter, (g/m2) and is a unit used to measure the weight of fabric. It is the weight of the fabric if you take a sheet of material which is one meter by one meter square and weigh it in grams. A higher GSM means the fabric is heavier and denser and warmer.
High GSM
- Feels thick, sturdy, and warm.
- Heavier structured feel.
- More resistance to wear and tear. (Lasts longer)
-
Higher GSM fabrics often feel softer and more luxurious.
Typical GSM ranges for different clothing items:
- Lightweight T-shirt: 120-160 GSM
- Regular T-shirt: 160-190 GSM
- Heavyweight T-shirt: 200+ GSM
- Casual Sweatshirt: 280-350 GSM
- Heavyweight Sweatshirt: 350-450 GSM
